The Dream
Our dream started about 10 years ago in the summer of 2003. We both have always enjoyed the water and traveling to new places. The question was asked, (not sure by who) about traveling by boat. We heard about this Great Loop experience. We joined AGLCA, started following other boaters blogs, and talking to anyone we could find that had already finished or was in the process of doing the loop. We were bitten Big Time! We joined the Power Squadron and started taking classes (navigation, piloting, weather, etc. you get the picture) to further our boating education. At this time we owned a 34’ Silverton. (very good boat but not a perfect one to live aboard) The quest began to find that perfect (at least for us) live aboard boat. After several years of searching the internet and driving to various places we found our new “home” in New Buffalo MI. Her name is Priorities and she is a 1988 45’ Californian. We brought her home to our slip in Pigeon Lake, Port Sheldon Michigan in July of 2007.
Now the real work began. Cosmetically she was great. We just needed to fine tune a few things to make her a better fit for us. In the 6 years we have owned her we have added an inverter, water maker, transom shower, solar panels, up to date electronics, 2 recliners (you might as well be comfortable while watching TV), and refitted a closet with shelves to make a pantry.
Randy retired from his job after 35 years with a local power company and Sherri retired after 22 years as a hairdresser and then 11 years working as a receptionist for a large automotive company.
It is now time to say goodbye to family and friends and start out on a new adventure.
