Friday Dec. 20

36 miles   0915-1500

Sarasota to Cape Haze, FL.

Our cruise today took us through several areas with slow or no wake zones. The slow wake areas were for manatees (didn’t get to see any yet) and the no wake for bridges that we had to go under. Traveling on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) is very scenic but a lot slower. Most of our cruise today there was only a very narrow piece of land between us and the Gulf. Today was a good day for dolphin watching. We had them swimming next to the boat off and on most of the day.

Along the ICW (make sure you stay between the Red and Green markers)

One of the bridges we had to get thru.

These birds must have had a pecking order. The top had storks and the bottom pelicans.
(of course storks do have longer legs)

One of many restaurants along the way.

Venice FL. inlet to the Gulf.

Mobile home park along the water. (this section maybe we could afford to live)

This section of the ICW is about a 5 mile long man made ditch.

Our anchorage for the night about 100 foot off the ICW.
