60 miles      Bar Island mm#85.4 to Hurricane Island, IL mm#28.4
To end our evening last night we sat on the front of the boat and watched the moon come up. Then we got to start our morning out today with a beautiful sunrise.

We pulled up the anchor at 0740 and went 5 miles to the only lock (La Grange Lock) that we had to go thru today. Again we were the only boat so they let us right in. This lock had a short drop of only10 feet.

During our cruise I got a couple of good pictures of more birds. Thanks to my coworker/friends who gave me a Field Guide to Birds book as one of my retirement gifts I can even tell you what kind of birds they were.
 Blue and White Heron

 Blue Heron and Golden Eagle

While traveling by a little town called Kamsville IL. we saw a car ferry. You don’t see these very often anymore.

All along the banks of the river you see a lot of houses and buildings built on stilts for any flooding. This house we passed went one better. They put there bird houses on stilts too.

Our day on the river ended at mile marker 25.9 at 1340, tucked behind Hurricane Island on anchor. The nearest town is Hardin IL. Tomorrow will be our last day on the Illinois River.
