Mon. April 21    0830-1510

44 miles      St. Augustine, FL to Fort George River, FL

Leaving behind the busy port of St. Augustine we started to see more flat marshy land. The next big inlet we passed across from the Atlantic Ocean is the St. Johns River. This river is one of the few in the US that flow north. Traveling south on this river will take you Jacksonville. Some day in the future this is a side trip we would like to take.

St. Augustine Inlet.

Ship in dry dock on St. Johns River.

Our anchorage for the night is right in front of a plantation house that was built in 1798 which is now a National Park. They offer a dinghy dock so we could go and tour the grounds.

 Kitchen behind the house.

 Remains of the slave quarters.
