Sat. April 12   0820-1325

37 miles    Banana River Lagoon, FL. to Titusville Marina, FL

We left the clouds from yesterday behind and found the sunshine again. Today the ICW opened up a little wider and deeper. It reminded me of cruising in Lake Macatawa back in MI.

While traveling a great navigational tool to use, are tall structures that are on shore. Examples of these can be cell towers, water towers, even church spires. Today we had all three together in the town of Cocoa.

The next landmark we could see in the distance was the Kennedy Space Center Vehicle Assembly Plant. When this was built in 1965 it was the largest building in the world and each stripe of the American flag that is painted on the outside used 6,000 gallons of paint.

We stopped for the night at Titusville marina. After checking in and paying for a dock we walked to the park next door to find the Indian River Festival going on. There was food, music, arts & crafts, and a gentleman showing off a collection of live reptiles.

 Alligator snapping turtle.

 Rat snakes.
