Yesterday after getting the boat all set up at the dock we
took a walk and toured 2 aquariums.
Ocean Aquarium & River Aquarium
The first was an “Ocean Journey” where we saw penguins,
sharks, sea turtles, and stingrays. The stingrays were in a pool where you could
reach in and touch them. (they feel like soft velvet)
We walked through a tropical forest teeming with all kinds
of plants and flowers and there were butterflies flying all around you. If you
stood still long enough they will even land on you.
The second aquarium was a “River Journey”. This one you followed the journey of a
raindrop as it flows from the top of a mountain to form streams, swamps, lakes,
and rivers. There was an amazing collection of all types and sizes of fish,
frogs, and turtles. They also had a selection of seahorses and sea dragons from around the world.
Today it started out raining so we didn’t get off the boat
till 12:30. Near the boat is the historic Walnut Street
Bridge which dates back
more than 100 years. After being closed to traffic a few years ago it now has
the distinction of being the world’s longest pedestrian walkway over water. Of
course we had to walk across. There was a huge park on the other side.
Next we hopped a ride on a free electric shuttle bus that
takes you from one end of town to the other with multiple stops along the way.
One stop we got off was at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. They have a New Orleans
Trolley Ride, Model
Railroad Museum ,
restaurant, retail shops, and Victorian Train Cars. Some of the train cars are
set up to dine in and some you can spend the night in.
