Saturday Nov. 2

27 miles    Mobile river M #12.2 to Mobile Bay, AL.

We left our anchorage at 0700 with a beautiful sunrise and pulled onto the river for the last time. We arrived in Mobile at 0830 to a very, very busy port. There were barges and tows and freighters every where.

 This boat is from Malta.

 This one is from Panama.

This one is from Bahamas.

This one is from Marshall Island.

This is the USS Independence.

Here is a dry dock. A freighter can be lifted out of the water for any work that needs to be done.

The best we could figure is that this boat was shrink wrapped for
some kind of work that had to be done.

These cranes are used to pick up cargo boxes and than load the freighters.

These are the cargo boxes. Each one is almost the size of a semi trailer.

Then it was on to the open water of Mobile Bay. Not far into the bay we were greeted by some dolphins. They love to swim around the boat as you cruise. We also started to see all kinds of different fishing boats.

Some pelicans were hitching a ride on this shrimp boat.

We stopped for the day at 1000 at Dog River Marina AL. After docking the boat we went and looked up some friends (Gary and Christelle from Canada) that we had met on Labor Day back in Kentucky.
