Thursday Oct. 24
23 miles Aberdeen to Columbus, MS
We left Aberdeen
marina at 0900.
The day started out cool but sunny and by afternoon we were
back in shorts. Only had one lock to go through today and we traveled with the
same 4 boats as yesterday. We were all headed to Columbus Marina MS to stay the
night. The river along the way was still narrow but not as many stumps along
this section. As we were cruising along, the Tombigbee River
curves in and out and crosses the Tenn-Tom in many places. We are really glad to
be on the Tenn-Tom instead for its straighter and faster course.
Some parts of the Tombigbee river entering the Tenn-Tom were very narrow...
and some were very wide.
As we got closer to Columbus
we started seeing a lot of jets flying over. Later we found out that Columbus has an Air Force
Base. This base started during World War II to train pilots and was also used
during the Korean War. Now they do a lot of training on the T-37 jets.
Very beautiful, love your insight on all the beauty you are taking in.........
