Mon. May 5    0900/1610

51 miles      Charleston, SC to Minim Creek Anchorage, SC

The temperature was going to hit 90 degrees in Charleston so it was a good day to move north. Not long after leaving the marina we passed Castle Pinckney, located north of Charleston on an island in the Cooper River. It was built in 1810, first used as a prisoner of war camp and then an artillery position during the Civil War.

Our travels today took us passed a couple more inlets coming from the Atlantic but they were too small for any large boat traffic and we met up with a towboat with a barge. Boy did that bring back memories from last fall traveling down the rivers and trying to get past them.

Sullivan Island Light
This is one of many lighthouses along the Carolina coast.
I have never seen one with this squared shape.

 Traveling along the ICW.

We found a nice anchorage in Minim Creek just off the ICW. It’s not real wide but there is enough room for the boat to swing with the tide and current.

We had a visitor swim right by the boat. (alligator)
