Sun. May 11    0815/1430

47 miles       Morehead City, NC to Hobucken, NC

The winds stayed strong all night so we were glad to be tied to a dock. By the time we pulled off the dock the winds finally calmed down. Today the ICW took us right up the middle of the Neuse River. This river is 275 miles long and the section we were in was wide enough at some points to see only one side of it. It may be a large body of water but it is not very deep so the ICW channel is marked all the way thru it.

Nice colorful house.

 Duck blind.

Our stop tonight is quite an interesting one. We are tied up to the R.E. Mayo Co. docks which is a working commercial fish house. It’s not very fancy but it only costs 40 cents a foot to tie up for the night and you can also purchase seafood from them. (We will have to wait till morning to check out the seafood since they aren’t open on Sun.)

This was taken from a bridge just north of our stop looking north.

Looking south at R.E. Mayo docks.

Hob Nobbing with the shrimp fleet.

These are the "restrooms" we could use.

The dock was used looking, but very stable.
