Mon. June 16
0730/0800 – 1430/1500
2 miles Ranney Falls ,
(lock 12) to Campbellford , Ontario (lock 13)
Our day started out sunny but cool. We left lock 12 and went
1 mile to Campbellford city wall. This wall is free to tie up to during the
day, but they charge you to stay over night. After tying up we went to Doohers
Bakery down town. We were told this was a must stop for their cream filled
donuts. After that we walked around town till 9:00, when the sky clouded over
and we got some rain for about an hour and a half. When the rain quit we walked
to the library for Wi-Fi, then we were off to the Worlds Finest Chocolate
outlet store. Since we couldn’t stay on the city wall we decided to go through
lock 13 which was a mile away and tie up there (free) for the night. By this
time all the clouds had left and the sun was back out. After tying up we went
for another walk (needed to after eating donuts for breakfast) to Canada Tire
store to check out getting a fishing license. These stores are similar to a
Tractor Supply store back home.

19 miles
Campbellford (lock 13) to Hastings ,
Ontario (lock 18)
After traveling through 5 locks, (2 of which were another
flight lock) sunshine, rain, 2 lakes, and 1 river we are tied up and secure for
the night in Hastings
(Lock 18). Along the way we met John. Now John is traveling in a 12 foot
sailboat (which he built) and is traveling by himself. He started this journey
in 2009 from Tennessee and takes 2 months of
every summer and is traveling the Loop just
like us (well some what like us). He started 5 days ago in Kingston
Ontario and hopes to get to Chicago in this leg of his trip. He carries a
tent to sleep in and enough canned food for 2 weeks.
