62 miles Green Cove, Hudson River,
NY to Saugerties,
NY
We are still traveling with Nelson & Sandra aboard
Destinees and its fun exchanging ideas and picking out our next stop. Traveling
north through New York state on the Hudson we are starting to
see a change in the scenery. Gone are the flat marshes and on to mountains and
trees. This stretch has some very beautiful country. It reminds us of our
travels up the Tenn.
River last fall.
West Point (United States Military Academy built in 1802).
Pollepel Island (Francis Bannerman built the castle in
1901 as an arsenal to store munitions cartridges).
Esopus Meadows light.
Rondout light.
Saugerties light.
Our anchorage for tonight is in a little town called
Saugerties. It’s a quaint town on a small river just off the Hudson .
Coming into the channel at Saugerties.
Just a little ways upriver from our anchorage.
