22 miles         Sylvan Beach, NY to Brewerton, NY

Last night walking along the channel wall in Sylvan Beach we met a man living on a sailboat heading to FL and 2 men living on a tugboat which they take all over NY State promoting the Erie Canal system.

Not sure exactly how he fits on here while he is traveling.

This tug was built in Ferrysburg MI. (near Grand Haven)

Sunset over Lake Oneida.

In the morning we left Sylvan Beach to cross Lake Oneida. This lake is 21 miles long and 5 miles wide. We had to travel the length of it to get back in the Erie Canal. A little ways back into the canal we stopped at Ess Kay marina in Brewerton for the night. (we won a free nights stay here as a door prize at a Looper rendezvous). The marina is a very nice Mom & Pop kind of place and they even offer a courtesy car if you need to do any shopping. We found 2 Looper boats here when we arrived and 2 more showed up during the day. It will be fun getting everyone together to exchange traveling stories.

Leaving Sylvan Beach.

Looking across the canal from our dock.

Looking up river from our boat.
